National Highways plan to carry out essential improvement work on the southbound dual carriageway of the A1 between Stamford and Wansford. This will include resurfacing, replacing all road markings and road studs and installing new road signs. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road.
They plan to complete this work over approximately 14 weeks between Monday 8 January 2024 and early April and will work between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only, weather permitting.
Work will be split into two sections, with them working between Wothorpe and Wansford first, before extending the closure to start from Stamford towards the end of the programme.
During the first two weeks, there will be additional closures of the A1 southbound between Wansford and Stibbington to allow bridge inspections and resurfacing works to take place. As a result, a longer diversion route will be needed.
