A47 between junction 15/Nene Parkway and Sutton roundabout update

Notice regarding the last remaining activities as part of the work to resurface the A47 westbound between junction 15/Nene Parkway and Sutton roundabout, as well as other maintenance activities.

As part of this, the Highways Agency have remaining work to complete on the A47 westbound, Sutton roundabout and Sutton Heath Road. They plan to complete this by Friday 3 November and will work between 8pm to 6am working weeknights only, weather permitting.

Closure details

Mon 23 – Thu 26 Oct. Closure of the A47 in both directions between Wansford and junction 15/Nene Parkway

Fri 27 Oct. Closure of the A47 in both directions between Wansford and junction 15/Nene Parkway, plus a closure of Sutton Heath Road, between Langley Bush Road and the A47.

Mon 30 Oct – Fri 3 Nov. Closure of the A47 westbound between junction 15/Nene Parkway and Sutton Roundabout

Whilst the road is closed, westbound traffic will be diverted via Nene Parkway (A1260), Fletton Parkway (A1139) and A1 northbound, to re-join the A47 at Wansford. Eastbound traffic will follow the same diversion in reverse.

Local access arrangements

As the A47 and Sutton Roundabout is closed during some of these works, vehicles accessing Sutton, Castor, Ailsworth and Upton will need to follow the below instructions.

Sutton, Castor and Ailsworth. Please approach our secure traffic gates located at the following locations, with proof of your address, to gain escorted entry to the local area:

  • A47 Wansford roundabout eastbound – to gain entry via The Drift, Sutton.
  • A47 junction 15/Nene Parkway entry slip – to gain entry via Loves Hill.

Alternatively, you can use an unescorted access via the Helpston Road overpass into Ailsworth.

Upton. Please approach the secure traffic gate at A47 Wansford roundabout eastbound, to gain entry via Sutton Heath Road.
